TOUR PLAN:

Day 1. Arrival in Zadar
Welcoming at the airport, transport to the accommodation in Zadar. Zadar is a city with extremely long history, located in the heart of the Adriatic. It has represented the urban center of Dalmatia for a long period. From the 9th century BC it was inhabited by Liburnians. In the first century it became part of the Roman Empire until its collapse in the 5th century. Numerous remains of Roman urban construction and culture are still visible today and testify over 3000 years of life in Zadar. In the afternoon you will go to a guided city tour with VR-glasses to experience how the city looked in the past. While walking around the city, the assistant will take you for a tasting of Maraschino, the most famous product of Zadar. The recipe for this authentic Zadar liqueur was created and written down at the beginning of the 16th century in the Dominican Monastery in Zadar. The liqueur was also adored by the French kings Louis XVIII, Charles X. and Louis Philippe, and the Russian emperor Nikolai I. The British King George IV. and Queen Victoria sent their warships to Zadar for hundreds of crates of Maraschino for the royal court in London. During its five centuries long existence, many famous persons drunk Maraschino; it was drunk by Casanova, world military leaders like Napoleon, world famous film producer Hitchcock and French poet Baudelaire, world famous actors and singers; they drank it on the first and last journey of the legendary Titanic, and even Honoré de Balzac has written about the famous liqueur (in the 1842 novel “Un début dans la vie”). Beside Maraschino you will taste another local drink which is also the most consumed spirited drink in Croatia. After the tour, the assistant will introduce you to the authentic dishes of this area, which you can try in some restaurants. The assistant will additionally go through the plan of your stay in Zadar and its surroundings. Free time for dinner and return to overnight accommodation.

Day 2. Zadar-National park Plitvice Lakes-Rastoke-Zadar
After breakfast departure to the most beautiful Croatian national park Plitvice Lakes. There you will have a 3-hour guided tour through the National Park. Plitvice Lakes are one of the most attractive national parks in the world and the only park in the world where travertine barriers grow up to 90 centimeters in 30 years, while the world average is only a few centimeters. For this reason, it was named “Land of the Falling Lakes where the stones grow”. After sightseeing Plitvice you will take a short ride to nearby Rastoke watermills village. There we will have lunch at a local restaurant while  fishes swim in the streams under your feet. Rastoke is a suburban town of Slunj located on the river Slunjčica. The settlement was originally built as a mill for various cereals and a laundry for woolen items. In the present time, the village is tourism oriented and definitely worth seeing. Later you will have free time to explore Rastoke on your own. After that you will return to Zadar and rest until tomorrow.

Day 3. Zadar-National park Kornati and Nature park Telašćica-Zadar
After breakfast boat ride towards Kornati National Park and Telašćica Nature Park. It is a beautiful archipelago that consists of 89 uninhabited islands and islets, representing the most indented group of islands of the Mediterranean.  Name Kornati comes from Latin word “corona” meaning crown. According to legend, on the last day of creating, God wanted to crown its work and created Kornati from tears, stars and breath. Telašćica Nature Park is located in the southeast of Dugi otok and it is known as a „Nautical Paradise“. It covers the area of a beautiful bay that consists of 5 islets,  highest cliffs in Croatia situated on the other side of the island and salt lake located in the middle of the island, special for its medical mud.  During your boat ride, you will have three stops for swimming and for lunch at a restaurant on the island. Return to Zadar is planned in the afternoon.

Day 4. Zadar-Klis-Split-Trogir-Zadar Game of Thrones tour
After breakfast departure to the Klis fortress located on top of an inaccessible cliff. The fortress had a historical significance in the defense of these area. Klis was the capital and hometown of Croatian kings. In the present times, it became popular after Game of Thrones serial was filmed there. In the serial it represented Meereen, the fictional slave land. You will have a guided sightseeing of the fortress and enjoy panoramic view of nearby Split and its islands. After that you will visit Split known for its cultural heritage and Diocletian, Roman emperor who built a palace there. Diocletian’s Palace is one of the most preserved monuments of Roman architecture in the world. In the Diocletian’s Palace, the Western Roman Empire fall as the last recognized Roman emperor Julius Nepot was murdered.  Diocletian Palace is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will enjoy exploring the city with your guide. Afterwards you will stop in a local restaurant to have a lunch. Later follows a ride to city of Trogir, another UNESCO site. Trogir is situated on a small island connected to the mainland by a bridge. It was founded by Greek colonizers in 3rd century BC. It is one of the best preserved Romanesque and Gothic city in Europe. It amazes visitors with its numerous cultural and historical monuments, small streets and art collections with numerous masterpieces. Since 1997, the entire city has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List. By National Geographic it was proclaimed the most beautiful “town-island” in the World.  After sightseeing the city with a guide, you will drive back to Zadar.

Day 5. Departure from Zadar (END OF TOUR)
Breakfast and check out from the hotel. Free time in the city until scheduled flight

Transfer: from Zadar to Zemunik Airport 20 kilometers / 30 minutes drive
